    • The Cadillac CTS and ATS replacements - Introducing the underwhelming 2020 CT4-V and CT5-V sedans

Cadillac was onto something for a bit with the CTS and even the ATS. They had distinctive model classes and the CTS was making some headway against its German mid-size rivals offering something unique in the class.

Well, the CTS is gone in favor the CT-5 and the ATS which offered great performance but did not sell well (that interior killed you Cadillac) is gone in favor of the CT-4.

The CT-4 and CT-5 both are, well, ugly. This is not a great design language.

      CT5-V:

      CT4-V:

You want to compete against the Germans with that exterior and interior? Good luck.

You may be thinking what is under the hood will make up for the exterior and you would be wrong. The CT5-V offers 355 horsepower from a 3.0 liter twin turbo V6 and the CT4-V has 320 horsepower from a 2.7 liter turbo I4. Obviously both seriously lack power compared to the CTS-V and ATS-V. The 10-speed automatic is nice but that is about it.

What is Cadillac even doing? What does the 'V' in the moniker even mean now? They built it up to mean performance and now they are using it on these duds.

It may be time to give up on Cadillac ever becoming a serious challenger.
